It's (finally!) Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

This is the extent of the holiday decorating I've done, but it sure made a difference in the holiday feel in the house. Putting up the tree was very interesting. The bottom tier is not there. It would have filled the living room. So it looks like a new, slim tree will be next year. By not having the bottom tier to decorate I ended up with lots of extra ornaments which worked out great for a table decoration. And my favorite decoration? The poinsettia decoration my big guy made for me. It's front and center on the fridge.

I've given up on the Christmas knitting. What got done, got done. Maybe more next year. Isn't that what most of us say? "Next year I'll start earlier." Every year I promise myself I'll do at least one Christmas project per month. Doesn't happen for me! But maybe next year!

Strike a Pose!

And here is my darling, darling two year old nephew in his penguin sweater. He's actually my niece's baby, but that would make me a great-aunt and we all know great-aunts are 80 years old, right? So instead, I'm a great! aunt. The little guy lives in Seattle and we all miss him so much. And of course, we miss his parents also, but they don't do as many cute things as he does. Or change as quickly.

Lots of knitting, but have given up on trying to get handknit items for the holidays. I've done a few and will post them soon.

Penguin Baby

I made this sweater and hat for one of my niece's little boy. The sweater is from Patternworks and made of Wool-Ease for easy care. The hat is from one of those craft mags you find at the checkstand of grocery stores and big-box stores. The little guy lives in Seattle and is about to turn two. The hat will fit for several years, but the sweater fits him perfectly now so it probably won't make it through the winter.

Check out this kitchen set! I knit the handtowels and dishcloths for my new place. They will, hopefully, match the dishes when I get new ones-soon--just waiting for the dishes to go on sale! And check out that button. Close enough to a knit stitch for me.

There Be Pirates

I started this pirate sweater two years ago for my youngest. It's a top down raglan and since it seemed like it was going to be too big I put it away for awhile. I finished it at the end of September and he's worn it lots. I used Wool-Ease for ease of care. I prefer Encore for wash and wear, but had this in my stash.

I've pretty much given up on Christmas knitting since I've been busy moving and working out custody and divorce arrangements. But this is a knitting blog. I have been working on dishcloths because they take so little concentration and result in a quick FO. I've also done a really cute, if I do say so myself, penguin sweater for a neice's son's second birthday. I'll post pics soon.
