First Night

Tonight was my first social function as a divorced woman. The divorce decree was signed by the judge about 8 days ago and tonight was a birthday party for the doctor I work for and his wife. I've been to activities alone while still living with my ex and since separating, but this was the first one as divorced. And it did feel different. Weird. Plus it was the first time I'd met the dr.'s wife. As odd as the evening felt I still say it's better to actually be alone than FEEL alone with another person. Does that make sense? And the one saving grace was this was the first party I had attended with this employer so I wasn't known as half of a couple. That would have felt even more strange.

And this is what I wore:
It's the Carrie Cropped Cardigan from Fitted Knits by Stephanie Japel. However, mine isn't cropped since I had way more yarn than I needed. Check out the "button". I couldn't find anything on the button aisle that I liked so decided to check out the craft area and found this fastener in the jewelry making section. I love it!

This sweater was originally intended for a party with the real estate company a couple of weeks ago, but the party was cancelled due to bad weather (it was supposed to be up the canyon). Tonight's party was casual so I wore it. It was a very quick knit--2 sts/inch. It only took me a weekend to knit, but took three days to dry after I wet blocked it. Anyway I love it!

It's Been Sooooo Long

Okay, it's been a long time since I last posted. Is there anyone still out there?

The summer just flew by. I spent a month housesitting in my old neighborhood so I could be close to Big Guy. I didn't get to spend nearly as much time with him as I'd like because the other parent was not cooperative. But it was still great being that close to him and I was also close to my mom and stepdad so it was great being there. The catnip mice and the dishcloths are for the woman (and her cat!) whose house I watched. There was also a dog to tend, but pics of pig's ears (apparently dogs love them!) don't make for good blog posts.

The baby kimono is from Mason-Dixon Knitting (or whatever the name of it is). I used the newish twisted dishcloth cotton purchased at Hobby Lobby, but Michael's has it now too. It's not as bulky as the regular dishcloth cotton so it's much easier for me to attain gauge.

The alpacas were at a fiber fest I went to last weekend.

Still running, but in air conditioned comfort at a local fitness center. I didn't achieve my goal of getting trained in time for the fall 5Ks, but have great hope for the spring ones. I should have listened to the trainer and been training on a 2% incline since treadmills do most of the work for you! I was running with a 0% incline and it just wasn't going to translate to outdoor street running. But I do love the "high" which running gives me.
